Are you a current or former employee of Serco Australia Pty Limited, GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd or Trident Services Security Pty Ltd?

Have you had deductions made from your pay for ‘income protection’ insurance?
Serco Australia, GEO and Trident Security struck Enterprise Bargaining Agreements with United Voice which provide for deductions to be made towards premiums for “income protection insurance”. Your fortnightly payslip would show the deduction for “Income Protection”.

Under the Fair Work Act, these deductions may have been unlawful.  By law, employers must ensure employees are properly informed of their rights and responsibilities and that any deviation from a statutory award makes each employee better off overall.

Many employees say there were not properly informed of their rights and responsibilities under the policy.  Many already had Income Protection through their superannuation fund or independently, resulting in duplicated policies and payments.

We have been told by a number of employees of their being informed by United Voice representatives and their employer that the deductions were a condition of their employment and that they could not opt-out.

Our aim is to recover those deductions for you.
